Actually, sleeping on the side is considered better. Most people sleep in this position. That is why it is considered the right position to sleep. William Dement, a renowned sleep researcher at Stanford University, in his research on sleep, found that about 54% of people prefer to sleep on their side. For this research, he studied 664 people, out of which 54% slept on their sides, 33% on their back and 7% slept lying straight.
Even while sleeping on the side, one should keep changing the position after some time. This does not cause problems related to the spinal cord and provides relief to the shoulders, neck and back. Sleeping on the side is also beneficial for people who have a habit of snoring.
This is also the right way
Along with this, fetal position is also considered the correct position to sleep. Fetal position means fetus like position. In this, the body and legs are bent to one side, which provides relief to both the legs and waist. For good sleep, sleeping in this position is considered better. This position and sleeping on the side are almost the same.
